Growing Inclusive Audiences: Accessible Recordings
Accessible Arts recently presented an Access Ideas and Insights event focused on Growing Inclusive Audiences.
This event explored how arts and cultural organisations can expand access and deepen audience relationships by embedding access across all areas of practice. It considered cultural access, engagement, and long-term thinking, with a focus on how audiences are actively included in programming, marketing, and organisational decision-making.
Panellists included Angie Goto (Artist and Arts Educator), Sidney McMahon (Director, Parramatta Artists Studios) and Rosell Flatley (Access Programs Producer, Art Gallery of NSW). This event was MC’d by Michael Louis Kennedy (Producer, Biennale of Sydney).

About the Panelists
Angie Goto – Artist & Arts Educator (MCA, Biennale of Sydney, AGNSW, Powerhouse Museum)
Angie Goto is a Deaf Australian artist who has a unique interpretation of her surroundings through figurative and abstract art. She was born Deaf, which gives her a different perspective on colour and images. Angie studied Fine Art and Graphic Design in Newcastle and Sydney. Her return to painting was marked by her Tropfest film ‘Angie’, which was a finalist in 2015. She had successful solo exhibitions in Sydney and abroad at galleries such as 19Karen Gallery Queensland, ArtToArt Gallery in Melbourne and Dyer Arts Center in New York. She has been a finalist in various art prizes such as Ravenwood Art Prize, Paddington Art Prize, Fisher’s Ghost Art Prize, Michael Reid’s National Emerging Art Prize, and many others. These experiences have solidified her dedication to painting. In addition to her art career, Angie works part-time as an Artist Educator at the Museum of Contemporary Art and Powerhouse Museum, where she focuses on special projects for Deaf and hard of hearing audiences. Angie also does freelance work at the Art Gallery of NSW, Hazelhurst Art Centre and Campbelltown Arts Centre.
Sidney McMahon – Director of Parramatta Artists Studios (PAS)
Sidney McMahon is Director of Parramatta Artists Studios (PAS), one of Australia’s leading multi-disciplinary visual arts organisations supporting contemporary artists at all stages of their practice. PAS is recognised for its strong focus on artist development, equity, and connection to Western Sydney’s diverse creative communities. Sidney is also a practicing artist and loves excel spreadsheets.
Rosell Flatley – Access Program Producer, Art Gallery of NSW
Rosell Flatley is Access Programs Producer at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. She develops and delivers inclusive art programs that centre wellbeing, cultural safety, and community connection. Her work includes leading Culture Dose, Culture Dose Kids, and Creative Ageing, supporting people experiencing mental health challenges, older adults, and culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Rosell works collaboratively with health and wellbeing, community, and cultural organisations to create meaningful, accessible experiences at the Art Gallery. Grounded in community arts practice, Rosell is committed to equity and culturally safe approaches, with a particular focus on migrant, refugee, and working alongside First Nations communities.
About the MC
Michael Louis Kennedy – Producer, Biennale of Sydney
Michael Louis Kennedy is an independent artist, playwright and producer based in Sydney, Australia. At the time of writing he works as the curator and producer of the Biennale of Sydney Public Program. His recent creative works include ‘The Balloon Dog Bites’ (Old Fitz, Sydney and Melbourne Fringe 2025; and Shoreditch Playhouse, London 2025), and ‘All The Fraudulent Horse Girls’ (Old Fitz, Sydney 2024; Pleasance, Edinburgh Fringe 2024; Seven Dials Theatre, London 2024; The Blue Room, Perth; Melbourne Fringe 2023; and the Glory, London 2022). He is currently a participant of Griffin Studio 2026.
